Teenage parents
If you are a parent under the age of 18, you are still responsible for the financial and emotional well-being of your child. Whether you are the custodial parent or non-custodial parent, all the rights, responsibilities and laws explained on this website apply to you.
As a minor, your parents or legal guardians will work with you to take the actions necessary to make sure your child gets support. However, teen parents have the right to establish paternity on their own without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
Once you reach the age of 18, you will have to take these steps yourself for your child.
