Confidentiality and Privacy Fact Sheet

The use or release of information about applicants or recipients of child support enforcement services, including legal guardians, presumed fathers and non-custodial parents will be only in direct connection with obtaining and enforcing child support.

This information can be used when reporting to an appropriate agency or official, information on known or suspected instances of physical or mental injury, sexual abuse or exploitation, or negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child who is the subject of a child support enforcement activity when it is believed that the child's health or welfare is threatened.

These confidentiality safeguards are binding on all staff in direct or indirect contact with the child support program. It also applies to any staff under agreement with the state to supply any related services to the child support program.
